These three portraits are related to each other; Holbein would have taken the sketch first before proceeding with his portrait of her; then an unknown artist began a copy of either the sketch or portrait.

There are a handful of other portraits that seem likely to be of Jane and painted during her lifetime, however their identities have not yet been academically confirmed. So for now, these three faces are who we know as Queen Jane.

Sketch by Hans Holbein the Younger, c.1537-37.
This sketch was clearly used as the basis for his full portraits of Jane. It is probable that this sketch was used as the basis for some of the posthumous paintings of Jane by other artists.
Portrait by Hans Holbein the Younger, c.1536-37
Unfinished portrait of Jane Seymour, by an unknown artist, after Holbein’s portrait, c.1537. It is possible the portrait was abandoned due to Jane’s death after childbirth.
